Kinich vs Lauma

The high-mobility Natlan hunter vs. Nod-Krai's Dendro specialist

TL;DR — Quick Pick

Pick Kinich if…

  • When you want high-octane mobility and grapple gameplay
  • If playing in Natlan to maximize Nightsoul mechanics
  • For high-damage Burgeon or Burning teams

Pick Lauma if…

  • If you prefer a more stationary, summon-based playstyle
  • When you need wider Dendro application over a large area
  • If you want a Catalyst-user for Dendro reactions
Verdict

Kinich is a highly mobile, Natlan-centric carry with unique grappling mechanics. Lauma offers a more traditional but effective summon-based Dendro experience with better AoE coverage.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Kinich

Strengths
  • Kinich has high mobility during combat due to the mechanics of his Elemental Skill.
  • Elemental Skill makes combat with ranged enemies easier than most claymore characters due to the automatic targeting and grappling.
Weaknesses
  • Blind Spot mechanic causes unpredictability during gameplay which requires more understanding of enemy attack patterns than most other characters as well as creating variances that lead to not necessarily having a set rotation.
  • Poor performance in AoE scenarios due to being heavily single-target focused.

Lauma

Strengths
  • Powerful off-field Bloom support with good off-field elemental application and decent damage.
  • Provides both a Hydro and Dendro RES Shred.
  • Can allow Bloom-based reactions to crit. Something previously only available with Nahida's C2.
Weaknesses
  • You lose the ability for Bloom-based reactions to Crit if you use multiple Nod-Krai characters.
  • Healing is entirely locked behind C1 which provides a very significant change to team-building.

Shared Team Members

With Kinich

Thoma is a top-tier partner for Kinich, providing a reliable shield that refreshes with Normal Attacks while enabling consistent Burgeon reactions. His off-field Pyro application ensures that the Burning aura is maintained, which is essential for Kinich's 'Hunter's Mark' mechanics. This synergy allows Kinich to stay safe and deal high damage through both his personal skills and Burgeon procs.

With Lauma

Lauma benefits from Thoma's defensive shielding and consistent Pyro application, which help her stay healthy and trigger powerful elemental reactions. Thoma's off-field Pyro allows Lauma to focus on her own damage while providing a stable Pyro aura for Vaporize or Melt teams. His shield also provides much-needed interruption resistance during her attack sequences.

With Kinich

Bennett provides Kinich with a massive ATK buff that significantly increases the damage of his scaling-intensive skills and grappling attacks. He also enables Pyro Resonance and provides the healing necessary to keep Kinich healthy while he is maneuvering in melee range. Bennett's burst is the ideal foundation for Kinich's high-damage windows.

With Lauma

Bennett is a core support for Lauma, offering his signature ATK buff and Pyro resonance to maximize her damage output. His healing ensures that Lauma can remain aggressive on-field, while his Pyro application helps her maintain the necessary elemental auras for her reactions. Together, they form a powerful Pyro-focused duo.
