Mavuika vs Hu Tao

Natlan's Pyro king vs. the highest personal Vaporize ceiling in Pyro.

TL;DR — Quick Pick

Pick Mavuika if…

  • You have Natlan supports (Xilonen, Citlali) and want the best team DPS.
  • You prefer an aggressive, no-downtime gameplay loop over HP management.
  • You don't have Zhongli or a strong shielder to cover Hu Tao's survivability gap.

Pick Hu Tao if…

  • You already own Staff of Homa and want to maximise its value.
  • You have Zhongli or Layla to shield her safely.
  • You enjoy HP-threshold gameplay and find it engaging rather than stressful.
Verdict

Mavuika is the better team DPS investment — her Nightsoul loop is smooth, her Natlan teams push serious numbers, and she doesn't demand a dedicated shielder. Hu Tao's personal Vaporize ceiling is genuinely higher, but it costs you a shielder slot and unforgiving HP management. If you're pulling blind, Mavuika is the easier recommend. Pull Hu Tao if you specifically want the Vaporize fantasy and already own her core support kit.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Mavuika

Strengths
  • Among the highest personal Pyro DPS in the game at C0
  • Nightsoul Blessing creates a fluid, aggressive gameplay loop with no downtime
  • Performs well in all content — Spiral Abyss, Overworld, and Imaginarium Theater
Weaknesses
  • Full potential requires Natlan teammates — non-Natlan teams lose the Nightsoul synergy bonus
  • Signature weapon (A Thousand Blazing Suns) is a meaningful power gap over F2P alternatives
  • Fighting Spirit management requires the team to be actively attacking — idle teammates slow her Burst rotation

Hu Tao

Strengths
  • Strong Pyro damage
  • Versatile team options
Weaknesses
  • Requires investment
  • Best teams use limited 5-stars

Shared Team Members

With Mavuika

Core in Mavuika's Vaporize team. Her DMG Bonus stacks ride Mavuika's constant HP movement during Nightsoul Blessing, keeping the buff near-permanent.

With Hu Tao

Powerful but needs careful HP management. Furina's drain combined with Hu Tao's sub-50% HP threshold can clash — you usually need a shielder to keep things stable.

With Mavuika

Pillar of Mavuika's Melt team. Citlali's Cryo application, Nightsoul generation, and Res Shred make her arguably Mavuika's single best support.

With Hu Tao

Strong off-field Cryo for Reverse-Melt enabling. Works well in double-Hydro Hu Tao comps as a Cryo enabler that also generates Nightsoul for Natlan-adjacent synergy.
