Nefer vs Albedo

Dendro catalyst DPS vs. Geo off-field Sub-DPS

TL;DR — Quick Pick

Pick Nefer if…

  • When you want a character who leads the charge in Dendro teams
  • In Spread or Aggravate setups where Dendro is the primary element
  • If you prefer high-frequency catalyst combat

Pick Albedo if…

  • To add 'free' extra damage to any team without taking field time
  • In Geo-centric teams that need more shields and resonance
  • If you have Cinnabar Spindle and want to use it on its best user
Verdict

Nefer provides the high-value Dendro element which is currently more meta-relevant for reactions. Albedo is a great low-maintenance slot-in, but Nefer offers a higher ceiling for a team built around him.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Nefer

Strengths
  • Extremely powerful Main DPS, focusing more on personal damage as opposed to reaction damage like most Dendro characters.
  • Great future potential with room to grow further as more Nod-Krai supports are released.
  • Enables Lunar-Bloom for the party and buffs based on Elemental Mastery.
Weaknesses
  • While Lauma isn't necessarily required, she is still a large portion of Nefer's overall potential.
  • A second Nod-Krai character however is absolutely required due to the effects of Ascendant Gleam being such a huge part of Nefer's kit.
  • Most Dendro Cores generated are converted into Seeds of Deceit which cannot trigger Hyperbloom and Burgeon reactions or Nilou Bloom's cores.

Albedo

Strengths
  • Consistent, high off-field Geo Damage.
  • Requires minimal field time.
  • Full uptime on Elemental Skill with a low cooldown and long duration.
Weaknesses
  • Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst have split scaling stats before C2.
  • Loses a lot of damage without a second Hexerei unit on the team.
  • His Geo Construct can be easily destroyed without a second Hexerei unit on the team, losing all of his damage and particle production.

Shared Team Members

With Nefer

Zhongli provides Nefer with Geo Resonance and the Shred needed to maximize her Dendro and Lunar-Bloom damage. His shield creates a safe environment for Nefer to perform her Shadow Dance without being interrupted by enemy attacks.

With Albedo

Albedo and Zhongli form the classic Double Geo core, providing constant off-field damage and energy particles. Zhongli's Jade Shield shreds resistances for Albedo's Transient Blossoms, while Geo Resonance boosts the damage of both units significantly.
