Alhaitham vs Lauma

The Scribe's tactical swordplay vs. Nod-Krai's catalyst mastery

TL;DR — Quick Pick

Pick Alhaitham if…

  • When you want a highly efficient Spread carry
  • If you prefer fast-paced melee combat with sword teleports
  • In teams where you can perfectly time his mirror refreshes

Pick Lauma if…

  • If you prefer the safety of Catalyst ranged attacks
  • In teams focusing on Nod-Krai's unique regional mechanics
  • When you want a simpler 'deploy and blast' rotation
Verdict

Alhaitham is the superior choice for players who value mechanical depth and high-frequency reactions. Lauma provides a more relaxed Catalyst experience with competitive Dendro damage from a distance.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Alhaitham

Strengths
  • Powerful On-field DPS and strong Dendro enabler for Bloom, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon teams.
  • Dendro infusion can not be overridden by other elemental infusions.
Weaknesses
  • Has specific rotations that can be hard to get used to and master.
  • No interruption resistances.

Lauma

Strengths
  • Powerful off-field Bloom support with good off-field elemental application and decent damage.
  • Provides both a Hydro and Dendro RES Shred.
  • Can allow Bloom-based reactions to crit. Something previously only available with Nahida's C2.
Weaknesses
  • You lose the ability for Bloom-based reactions to Crit if you use multiple Nod-Krai characters.
  • Healing is entirely locked behind C1 which provides a very significant change to team-building.

Shared Team Members

With Alhaitham

Yelan provides the consistent off-field Hydro application required for Alhaitham's Quickbloom teams, creating Dendro Cores while Alhaitham drives. Her ramping DMG bonus from her passive also significantly boosts Alhaitham's personal mirror damage.

With Lauma

Yelan's rapid Hydro application is essential for generating the Bloom cores needed for Mualani's team archetypes. Her high personal damage and mobile Burst coordinate well with Mualani's movement, providing a strong Hydro foundation.

With Alhaitham

Raiden serves as a low-maintenance off-field Electro applicator for Alhaitham, triggering Hyperblooms or maintaining Quicken with 100% uptime. Her Skill's coordinated attacks trigger every time Alhaitham hits an enemy, ensuring no gaps in reaction windows.

With Lauma

Raiden provides Mualani with energy restoration and consistent Electro for various reaction setups. Her off-field Electro application helps maintain various aura states, while her Burst can fill in downtime when Mualani's Skill is on cooldown.
