Nod-Krai Dendro duo: Reaction focus vs. pure damage

TL;DR — Quick Pick

Pick Lauma if…

  • When your team relies on high-frequency Dendro reactions
  • To provide Elemental Mastery to other party members
  • In teams where you want the Dendro application to stay active while off-field

Pick Nefer if…

  • If you want to play a dedicated on-field Dendro carry
  • In Spread teams where his high personal scaling can shine
  • When you have premium supports like Nahida to back him up
Verdict

Lauma is the engine that makes reaction teams run, while Nefer is the driver meant to capitalize on them. Choose Lauma for team synergy and Nefer for on-field glory.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Lauma

Strengths
  • Powerful off-field Bloom support with good off-field elemental application and decent damage.
  • Provides both a Hydro and Dendro RES Shred.
  • Can allow Bloom-based reactions to crit. Something previously only available with Nahida's C2.
Weaknesses
  • You lose the ability for Bloom-based reactions to Crit if you use multiple Nod-Krai characters.
  • Healing is entirely locked behind C1 which provides a very significant change to team-building.

Nefer

Strengths
  • Extremely powerful Main DPS, focusing more on personal damage as opposed to reaction damage like most Dendro characters.
  • Great future potential with room to grow further as more Nod-Krai supports are released.
  • Enables Lunar-Bloom for the party and buffs based on Elemental Mastery.
Weaknesses
  • While Lauma isn't necessarily required, she is still a large portion of Nefer's overall potential.
  • A second Nod-Krai character however is absolutely required due to the effects of Ascendant Gleam being such a huge part of Nefer's kit.
  • Most Dendro Cores generated are converted into Seeds of Deceit which cannot trigger Hyperbloom and Burgeon reactions or Nilou Bloom's cores.

Shared Team Members

With Lauma

Raiden Shogun's Skill provides coordinated Electro attacks that allow Lauma to trigger Hyperbloom consistently from off-field. Additionally, Raiden's Burst helps battery Lauma's expensive energy requirements for her Dendro application.

With Nefer

Raiden Shogun provides Nefer with the energy recharge necessary to keep her Dendro field active while also buffing Nefer's Burst damage. The coordinated Electro hits from Raiden's Skill ensure a steady stream of Quicken reactions to boost Nefer's personal damage.
