Skirk vs Ayaka

Abyssal Hydro mastery vs. the Cryo Burst queen

TL;DR — Quick Pick

Pick Skirk if…

  • When facing mobile enemies that Ayaka's Burst might miss
  • For consistent on-field Hydro damage without stamina reliance
  • In teams where Hydro reactions (Vape/Bloom) are preferred

Pick Ayaka if…

  • For classic Freeze teams where enemies can be locked in place
  • When you need concentrated, massive burst damage in a 5-second window
  • If you want the best possible user of Blizzard Strayer
Verdict

Skirk offers more flexibility and modern mobility, while Ayaka remains the queen of the specialized Freeze archetype. Skirk is generally more versatile across different enemy types.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Skirk

Strengths
  • Powerful Cryo DPS being one of the strongest characters currently available with the right teams.
  • Elemental Burst does not use energy meaning Skirk has no ER requirements.
  • Able to raise the Elemental Skill levels of everyone in the party.
Weaknesses
  • While Escoffier isn't necessarily required, she hard-carries a lot of the damage potential.
  • Artifact options on Skirk can be a little messy with Marechaussee being better but more restricting.
  • Massive Team Building Problems as you can only use Hydro and Cryo supports for Skirk.

Ayaka

Strengths
  • Has on-demand, on-field Cryo application through her Alternate Sprint and Cryo Infusion
  • Her free-to-play weapons perform close to 5-star alternatives and not far behind her signature
  • Can flexibly fill downtime with her Cryo-infused Normal and Charged Attacks or swap to her teammates and activate their respective abilities
Weaknesses
  • Loses a majority of her personal damage if her Elemental Burst misses
  • Requires good Energy management and funneling to fund her Elemental Burst
  • Relatively inflexible team compositions

Shared Team Members

With Skirk

Kazuha's grouping is vital for Skirk to maximize the reach of her Cryo attacks against multiple enemies. By swirling Cryo, Kazuha also provides the necessary RES shred and DMG bonus to push Skirk's damage to its limit.

With Ayaka

Kazuha is the backbone of Ayaka's Freeze teams, providing the grouping and Cryo DMG buffs needed to ensure her Burst hits every enemy. His RES shred from Viridescent Venerer is essential for Ayaka's high-scaling Cryo damage.
