ER% to threshold (140–160%) > CRIT Rate ≥ CRIT DMG > EM
Strengths
- Her buff encourages movement rather than restricting it
- As a Natlan unit, she can activate 4pc Scroll’s full 40% DMG Bonus
- Constellations provide further buffs, with her C2 giving ATK% and her C6 giving DMG%
- Fast animations and low field-time requirements
Weaknesses
- Her higher ATK buff requires the active character to move significantly, which limits her synergies
- Low personal damage
- Her lackluster healing can struggle to keep the team alive as solo sustain, or to stack Fanfare in teams with Furina
- Will force you to run 20 laps around the Stadium of the Sacred Flame
Talent Priority
Main source of damage or utility. Level to 10.
Level minimally or skip.
Substat Priority
Iansan Skill → Burst → swap to Nahida Skill/Burst → swap to Kazuha E (VV Swirl) → on-field DPS drives rotation. El provides Electro throughout the DPS window.
Iansan Skill → Burst → swap to Chevreuse Skill → swap to Pyro main DPS. El's off-field Electro primes enemies as the Pyro DPS attacks, triggering Overloaded and Chevreuse passive.
Iansan Skill (enters Nightsoul) → Burst → swap to Xilonen → swap to Mavuika. Nightsoul synergy and Kitain Energy regen reduce overall ER threshold across the team.
Iansan's rotation is a swift Skill + Burst then swap out. Focus on maintaining El uptime and ensuring the on-field DPS drives reactions off El's Electro.

Iansan
Off-field Electro Sub-DPS

Nahida
Dendro DPS / Buffer

Kazuha
Anemo Support / VV

Zhongli
Shielder / Universal RES Shred
The strongest Iansan team archetype. A Dendro DPS (Nahida, Alhaitham, or Tighnari) applies persistent Quicken aura, and Iansan's off-field El hits trigger Aggravate — a flat Electro DMG bonus on each hit. Kazuha or another Viridescent Venerer support provides 40% Electro RES shred while a healer or shielder rounds out the team.

Deploys El to apply continuous off-field Electro, triggering Aggravate on the Quicken aura maintained by the Dendro DPS. Her Nightsoul state integrates with any Natlan teammates in the flex slot.

Maintains the Quicken aura via her off-field Skill and Burst. Her A4 passive grants EM to the on-field character when another party member applies Dendro reactions, amplifying Iansan's Aggravate procs.

Viridescent Venerer 4-piece shreds Electro RES by 40%, amplifying all of El's off-field hits. His A4 passive also shares a flat Electro DMG Bonus to the party based on his EM, stacking additively with Aggravate.

The jade shield shreds all elemental and physical RES by 20% passively — no on-field time required. The protection allows Iansan's brief on-field Skill + Burst window to be uninterrupted.
Talents & Constellations
Talents
Performs up to 5 consecutive Polearm strikes dealing Physical DMG. Iansan almost never uses Normal Attacks in her off-field rotation — this talent is not leveled in practice.
Iansan commands El, her hawk spirit companion, to dive-strike nearby enemies and deal Electro DMG. El then remains on the field dealing periodic Electro DMG to enemies even while Iansan is off-field. Deploying El enters Iansan into Nightsoul's Blessing, contributing to team Nightsoul synergy bonuses. El persists for several seconds before requiring another Skill to refresh.
Iansan calls upon El for a powerful coordinated strike, dealing AoE Electro DMG to surrounding enemies. The Burst briefly supercharges El's attack speed for several seconds, dealing rapid additional Electro hits. Also refreshes El's remaining duration, ensuring off-field Electro application continues into the next rotation. High Burst cost (requires 140–160% ER for consistent uptime).
When El's periodic Electro hits score CRIT Hits, Iansan regenerates a small amount of Energy. Rewards investing in CRIT Rate even for off-field builds and slightly reduces the ER threshold needed for consistent Burst cycling when CRIT Rate is at 60%+.
While Iansan is in Nightsoul's Blessing, El's Electro hits gain an 8% DMG Bonus for each Nightsoul-triggered buff currently active on the team. In Natlan-heavy teams with 2–3 Nightsoul characters simultaneously active, this stacks into a meaningful overall multiplier on all of El's off-field DMG.
Constellations
Improves El's multi-target Electro application — helpful in mob-heavy Abyss chambers but negligible in single-target scenarios. A minor QoL upgrade.
Is it worth getting?
Small improvement in multi-target content. Not worth pulling for independently.
The most impactful constellation. The persistent Electro DMG bonus applies to all of El's off-field hits throughout the rotation, and the additional CRIT-triggered hits meaningfully increase sustained DPS in builds prioritizing CRIT Rate.
Is it worth getting?
The pull target for Iansan. This is the most meaningful DPS upgrade available to her — stop here unless investing further.
Increases Storm-Falcon Strike damage and the supercharged El hits it generates. A direct damage increase that compounds well with C2's Electro DMG bonus.
Is it worth getting?
Clean incremental upgrade. Better than it looks when combined with C2. Not a standalone reason to pull.
In Natlan-heavy teams where Nightsoul Bursts trigger frequently, El can maintain up to 30% bonus ATK. Compounds nicely with C2's Electro DMG Bonus in dedicated Natlan compositions.
Is it worth getting?
Better in Natlan teams than it appears. Not a standalone pull target, but a welcomed passive in themed compositions.
Raises El's dive-strike and periodic Electro hit damage multipliers. El's continuous off-field hits scale well with higher Skill levels — the most directly useful level-up constellation.
Is it worth getting?
Solid on the path to C6. Skill levels feed directly into the off-field DPS that El provides every rotation.
A significant personal damage ceiling upgrade. The 60% CRIT DMG boost dramatically increases El's output in builds with high CRIT Rate, and the free Superconduct application opens niche Physical DPS team possibilities.
Is it worth getting?
Meaningful endgame ceiling for dedicated Iansan investment. The Superconduct utility is unique for a non-Cryo character. Heavy 4★ constellation investment — most players stop at C2.
C0 Iansan is a functional off-field Electro Sub-DPS with consistent El uptime and reliable Electro application. She is outclassed by Fischl for raw damage but earns a spot in Natlan-themed teams or when Fischl is unavailable. Prioritize Skill and Burst talents; ignore Normal Attack.
Alternatives to Iansan
Not sure Iansan is right for you? Compare against other characters to find your best pull.

Strictly higher off-field Electro damage at equivalent investment. The first choice for off-field Electro in all non-Natlan teams. Iansan is the alternative when Fischl is unavailable or a Natlan slot is preferred.

Higher-ceiling 5★ off-field Electro with stronger personal damage. More investment-intensive but significantly outperforms Iansan in most team archetypes.

Strong 4★ off-field alternative with superior multi-target performance via Burst. Best at C2. More Burst-dependent than Iansan but a comparable investment tier.

Natlan Electro alternative with stronger Nightsoul synergy. Better in dedicated Natlan compositions; Iansan offers more flexibility in non-Natlan Electro team archetypes.
