Main Strength · Sub Will
Catcher brings Weaken and Vulnerability on Ultimate and a Battle Skill parry that applies Vulnerability, with easy potentials — but Umbral Monument rankings have moved past him. Camille, Chen Qianyu, Lifeng, and Ember cover the same Physical enablement jobs with higher team impact. Keep him if you already own copies for story comfort; do not spend banner currency chasing him while better enablers and buffers are still missing.
Catcher is a 4★ Physical Sustain (Great Sword). Catcher is a bit of an oddball, having a very defensive kit, with some of his skills functioning best in moments of high danger.
Weapon
Former Finery
Former Finery is a nice weapon that further boosts Catcher's defensive kit, by providing some healing on top of his already strong shields. Whenever an Operator protected by his shield would take damage, this weapon triggers a healing effect based on Catcher's Will, which is his Secondary attribute.
Gear Set
Æthertech
The Æthertech set will grant Catcher an immense attack boost every time he applies Vulnerable to the target. Although he is not primarily a DPS character, this set will not only boost his offensive capabilities but also his defensive power, as it provides the necessary stats.

Catcher is a bit of an oddball, having a very defensive kit, with some of his skills functioning best in moments of high danger.
His Battle Skill restores SP, and can also apply Vulnerable, but only if you time it correctly so Catcher gets hit while he raises his shield to protect himself and his allies.
Use these notes as the operator priority order inside the comps above.

Will Boost [L] · HP Boost [L]
Treatment Efficiency +10/18/28%. After a Protected operator takes DMG, the wielder restores the said operator's HP by [84/151.2/235.2 + WillÃ0.7/1.26/1.96]. Effect only triggers once every 15.00s.
Why it works —Former Finery is a nice weapon that further boosts Catcher's defensive kit, by providing some healing on top of his already strong shields. Whenever an Operator protected by his shield would take damage, this weapon triggers a healing effect based on Catcher's Will, which is his Secondary attribute.

Strength Boost [M] · HP Boost [M]
Secondary Attribute +5/9/14%. When the wielder applies Knocked Down or Weakened, the wielder gains DEF +18/32.4/50.4% for 15.00s. Effects of the same name cannot stack.
Why it works —OBJ Heavy Burden is Catcher's signature weapon, and is built around his Ultimate. The trigger effects for the weapon are both caused by his Ult, which will grant him a very strong Def% buff.

Æthertech is Catcher's BiS. Every Vulnerability application spikes his ATK, so the defensive kit still contributes real damage while the Strength/Will rolls cover what he needs to stay online.

Swordmancer is the Stagger-focused alternative. Prefer it when you value Stagger Efficiency and Physical follow-through over Æthertech's Vulnerability ATK spikes.

Catcher Defender seat: Chen sets Physical setup, Endministrator hits hard, Perlica adds utility — Catcher Protect/Shields so the damage seats can commit.
The Endministrator is a Physical sub-DPS who lands heavy single hits. Beside Catcher, they add Crush pressure during the same Physical amp windows.
Perlica is the Electric enabler. Battle Skill applies Electric Infliction on demand; Combo Skill applies Electrification on Final Strike so Electric kits like Catcher's can actually function.
Chen Qianyu opens Physical setups with Lift and Stagger. She creates the Crush / Vulnerability windows Catcher needs before the big Physical dump.

Catcher is the Physical Defender — Protect/Shield/Weaken so the Physical carry can stay aggressive.

COMBO TRIGGER: When an enemy starts charging up a skill, or when the controlled operator is attacked and falls below 40% HP. SKILL DESCRIPTION: A powerful downward punch that deals Physical DMG to the enemy, while granting shields to self and another teammate (controlled operator prioritized).
